How effective are insect repellent sprays? "Since I unfortunately haven't found an effective insect repellent spray yet..." We often hear this sentence, so we would like to explain the following to you:
When we humans sit on the terrace in the evening, we at least lubricate all uncovered areas with an insect repellent. If we don't do that and protect e.g. only the neck and the arms with a product, the mosquito/brake bites us under guarantee in the foot. So, in reverse: you have to treat all areas with the insect repellent in order not to be bitten!
EXACTLY the same is the case with the horse!
If you only spray the horse's neck and belly/legs, for example, you don't have to be surprised if the insects attack the horse's back and head. So you have to protect the horse all over. We know that this is always easier said than done and also a bit more expensive, because you use a lot of product, but it is unfortunately so. Tip: Additionally use a fly rug or fly cap or hood!
If you apply the products all over the horse, most sprays are very effective. Of course, there are differences in the active ingredients and the active ingredient content!
